Austro Control

Philipp Piber was born in 1985 in Graz. In his economics studies at the Vienna University of Economics and Business, which he completed in 2010, he specialized in innovation economics. He wrote his diploma thesis on innovation networks in Austria as part of the Innovation Economics Vienna Program at the Austrian Institute of Technology (AIT). After a period as a university assistant at the Institute for Foreign Trade and Development at WU Vienna, he moved to the Federal Ministry of Finance. There he advised State Secretary Andreas Schieder as a speaker for budget and economic policy. From 2014 to 2016 he worked as strategic advisor for the federal minister of transport, innovation and technology in the field of aviation, telecommunication and digital infrastructure.

From 2016 to July 2019, as Division Manager of the Aviation Agency he was accountable for the authority tasks delegated to Austro Control GmbH where he now leads the Drone Competence Center.
