Mike has 40 years experience in aviation with more than 22 years in regulatory roles with the UK CAA and EASA. He has held technical and management lead roles in UAS, cyber, spaceplane and aircraft certification and safety programs to develop and implement policy, regulatory and guidance material as well as undertaking product, organisation and operational approvals and their oversight in both national and international contexts. He has held chairmanship positions in international and national policy, rulemaking and standardisation activities, including ICAO and EUROCAE and supported JARUS.
His knowledge and experience of the regulatory systems and processes and their application is underpinned by a background of design, system safety, airworthiness and operational approvals and is now focused on supporting the safe, efficient and equitable integration of unmanned and automated aircraft into all classes of airspace to enable the societal and economic benefits these can bring.
